Prom Updo Instructions

This prom updo is a lot simpler than it looks. It appears to be intricate weavings of hair, but we used fancy scrunchies to match the model’s natural hair color!

Checklist:
Time: 10 minutes
Level of Difficulty: Easy

You will need:
Mousse for your hair type
Covered elastic band
Shine spray
Hairpins
3 Scrunchies: We used 3 different textures.
#1-feathers and beads, #2 fake  hair,
#3-netting. They closely matched our models
hair color to create interesting texture.

Step by Step

 1. Apply mousse to dry hair according to directions. You will need to start by making two ponytails. One will be high at the back of the head and one will at the level of the tops of the ears. Secure both ponytails with a covered band. Then wrap, wrap wrap it up.

2. Wrap, the  #1 scrunchie around the top ponytail, close to the head.

3. Next, wrap the #2 scrunchie behind the first one. Loop the natural hair under and secure with a hairpin to hold  both scrunchies in place.

4. Now wrap the #3 scrunchie around the ponytail below

5. Position the top scrunchie so that it overlaps the one below. Separate a few strands from the lower ponytail. Add a cute curl across your cheek and you’re good to go.

Variation :Experiment with a variety of scrunchies. Also try adding feathers, beads and fringe to this style.

Tip: Scrunchies are elastic band covered with tubes of fabric that ‘scrunches’ up when wound onto a ponytail. They come in all fabrics, textures and colors for unlimited variety.

Create-a Look
This prom updo is perfect for the athletic or natural girl who does not want to fuss too much with her hair. It is sassy enough to complement a simple dress and little or no jewelry.
