Get Pretty for Prom
32 Makeup Artist Tips:
Put your best face forward
-
First of all,
there are several things you can start doing right now
to help put your skin into tip-top shape, whether it be
on the face or the rest of the body
-
Drink lots of water or herbal teas, limit your soda
consumption, too much sugar.
-
Protect your skin from prolonged sun exposure, use
sun-screen and bronzers
-
If you smoke, quit quit quit. Smoking causes the skin
to look 'sickly'. It makes you sick too. Very sick It
can even kill you.
Here is a proof.
-
Eat more fruits and veggies, juice and milk, cut down
on sugary foods, which upsets your metabolism
-
Gently & thoroughly cleanse face and neck, removing all
makeup, every night before bed. Want to be
blemish free
for prom? Here's how.
Foundation
-
Before you put on any makeup, condition skin and lips
with moisturizers best suited for your skin type, (oily,
dry, or combination).
-
If you must use concealer, use it sparingly, and blend
carefully. Flash photos taken on this night can make
your face look ghost-like if applied too heavily. Find a
concealer color as close to the color of your skin.
Lighter colored concealer will look lighter in a photo,
appearing like a mask. Tip: it will be dark, so you need
less foundation, really.
-
Foundation should never alter or add color to your
skin. Find out your best
colors
first. To find the correct shade, run a stripe down from
the jaw line onto your neck. The color should match the
neck, to avoid a line along the jawbone. If your skin
tone falls between 2 shades, do not hesitate to buy both
shades and blend them together! You must use the same
brand to do this. In the end, you will have 2x as much
of the exact shade! Choose a powder in the same shade as
your foundation.

-
Dab a few dots of foundation over the eyelids to even
out the skin tone.
-
For flawless simplicity, try one of the new
cream-to-powders.
-
Loose Powder extends the wear of your foundation, apply
with a puff, and use a large brush to remove excess.
-
Create a fresh, natural look; opt for powder alone, in
a translucent formula. Or you can just get away with a
nice moisturizing tint.
-
Begin your blusher placement at the apple of your
cheeks, the fleshy area that plumps up when you smile.
Blend upward towards the temple. Choose your color
according to your personal
skin tone,
not your dress. Fair skin looks fabulous in sheer pinks,
while darker skin is best suited to rose tones,
apricots, even reds.
-
For the most natural finish, opt for transparent creams
and gels.
Eyes
-
The best way to dress up your eyes is to curl your
lashes. Curl first, apply mascara next. Find a color
that matches your hair, not your dress.
-
Before applying your mascara, dab the applicator tip
with a tissue to eliminate clumping on your lashes. Use
a lash brush to assure a smooth finish. Practice this
before the big night.
-
Groomed brows are a must. A well shaped brow is the
final frame to your gorgeous eyes.
-
To avoid the harsh look: use gray-brown brow pencil for
brown brows, blondes use taupe. Lighter colors are fine
for shaping and filling in and still looking fresh.
-
Accent the arch of the brow with a stroke of champagne creme shadow.
-
Shadow: Go with
your best neutral
shades if your dress and accessories are full
of color! Go with a more
colorful palette
if your dress is a neutral color, like black, white,
gray, taupe, cream, navy. For best results, don't use
more than two colors for your eyes, it can quickly turn
into a clown appearance. Either way you look at it the
easiest way to achieve the best contour and shading is
with the
